In order for you guys not to get confused with the different movie genres that I have provided for my movie downloads, I have come up to an idea of providing you with short explanations about the different movie genres that is found in this site.
| Movie Genre | Description |
| Adventure | involving danger, risk, and/or chance, often with a high degree of fantasy. |
| Animation | the rapid display of a sequence of 2-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement. |
| Biography | also known as “biopic”, a format that tells the story of a historic figure or an inspirational story about real people. This genre is arguably the most controversial, because the majority of biopics show fictionalized events. |
| Comedy | intended to provoke laughter. |
| Crime | places its character within realm of criminal activity, or within organizations attempting to prevent said activity (or sometimes both). |
| Documentary | a genre that portrays reality. |
| Drama | depends mostly on in-depth character development, interaction, and highly emotional themes. |
| Family | intended to be attractive for people of all ages and suitable for viewing by a young audience. Examples of this are Disney films. |
| Fantasy | speculative fiction outside reality (i.e. myth, legend). |
| Foreign | out of Hollywood movies. |
| Gangster | characters, if not all, are involved in a gang. |
| Historical | taking place in the past amidst notable historical circumstances. |
| Horror | intended to provoke fear and/or revulsion in the audience. |
| Kids | films for young children; as opposed to a family film, no special effort is made to make the film attractive for other audiences. |
| Musical | songs are sung by the characters and interwoven into the narrative. |
| Mystery | not understanding in full the plot of the movie until the end. |
| Remake | a remake of a previous film. |
| Romance | dwelling on the elements of romantic love. |
| Sci-Fi | or Science Fiction is defined by the effects of speculative (not yet existing) technology (i.e. future space travel, time travel) |
| Sequel | a movie that is complete in itself but continues the narrative of a previous work. |
| Sports | sporting events and locations pertaining to a given sport. |
| Superhero | film portraying the story of a superhero. |
| Suspense | intended to bring audience in a state of mental indecision or doubtful conditions. |

| War | battlefields and locations pertaining to a time of war. |
